Thank You Interns

Today is ServeNext’s first day without interns.  We have  been fortunate to work with 19 very talented students for the last ten weeks.  They attend colleges and graduate schools across the country and were excited to learn more AmeriCorps, national service and ServeNext and to contribute to the movement.  For us, it has been exciting working with enthusiastic people interested in the work we do and believe in the potential for national service.   The interns provided support across the country and allowed ServeNext to have a presence in 17 more communities across the country this summer.

The program started with a two-week orientation.   We focused on educating everyone to a standard level of knowledge about national service.  The next eight weeks were focused around two goals:  building the network of national service supporters through calls, emails and events; and to contribute to our pledge campaign by getting Congressional candidates to sign ServeNext’s pledge.   We have mailed and called every congressional candidate in the country.   We have already gotten over two dozen pledges.   We have studied other organizations and looked at what we can do better and we have called and emailed thousands of supporters of national service.

We had a great summer and would like to say thank you to our interns.
